Apple will offer refunds to buyers of the New 4G iPad in Australia

Apple will offer refunds to buyers of the New 4G iPad in Australia

Yesterday the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission accused Apple that it is misleading customers, and that they will ask a federal court to order Apple to make customers aware of the true technical capabilities of the New iPad.

Apple’s legal team claimed that the company never specified that iPad could connect to the Telstra LTE network, but they agreed to publish a clarification that states that the product supports 4G LTE mobile networks but it’s not compatible with the Telstra network. They also announced that Apple will offer refunds to buyers of the New 4G iPad that feel misled by its marketing.

Melbourne Federal Court set a trial date of May 2nd for the parties to determine whether Apple has broken Australian law. ACCC and Apple will first meet on April 18th for a mediation session.
